The Christmas Tag

Through last Saturday's SITS Sharefest I discovered the lovely blog, Beauty and Things. Kerker, did a Christmas Tag post, which I thought was a lovely idea, so decided to join in and get into the festive spirit.

1. What is you favourite Christmas movie/s?

There's been a lot of great Christmas movies, but I suppose I have fond memories of Santa clause the movie, from my childhood, so I will go with that one. There's a few that I haven't watched but feel I really should like Elf, which I'm planning on doing this year.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas eve or Christmas morning?

We have a little tradition in our house to open our 'snowman present' on Christmas eve. I bought a few cute boxes one year and this is the present we open. Some of the boxes have snowman on which is why I think we ended up calling it a snowman present.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I have many wonderful Christmas memories, all involve spending time with my wonderful Hubby and my family. We always spend Christmas with my parents in Surrey and then go to see his family in Wales for New Year, which works out wonderfully. I'm afraid I can't think of once specific one. I've got memories of drunken Christmas eves which we fantastic fun and then for the quieter ones we have now which are wonderful because I spend them with the people I love. All in all I just love Christmas.

4. Favourite festive food?

Oh  I love it all. Christmas dinner with all the trimmings (there's only 4 of us on Christmas day but we usually buy 3 different meats at least), but it's more because we have cold meats and bits and pieces for the following few days. I do love myself a mince pie with cream. Oh and the smell of gingerbread. I could go on and on and on...

5. Favourite gift?

I am very lucky and my Hubby and family always get me lovely gifts. Hubby always does good but Christmas 2012 he did exceptionally well as he got me my sewing machine and the most gorgeous antique sewing box/table, Truffles the Jellcat, highland cow and the cutest little highland cow ornament, which I absolutely love. I know I was a spoilt girl that year, the little ornament who I named Gordon is possibly the favourite although I obviously love my sewing machine. I do have to say though I really love to buy gifts and find things that I know people will love.

6.  Favourite Christmas Scent?

I think I'm with Kerker on this one, food cooking, all the lovely aromas which mean it's Christmas. I also love the smell of my Gingerbread house (shop bought and decorated by my friends daughter that smell is so delicious and Christmassy.

7. Do you have Christmas eve traditions?

We always have a nice meal (just a small one), watch Christmas movies and Hubby preps all the food for Christmas day (yes he does all the cooking!). We also open up our snowman present.

8. What tops your tree?

We have a fluffy baby blue star, with a gorgeous bead decoration hanging from it. We would never change it because although it's not the fanciest decoration it has very special memories attached to it.

(not the best picture)

9.  As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) you always asked for but never received?

I can't actually think of one. As a child and now an adult I have always been lucky to get wonderful gifts. Not particularly fancy but things I wanted, eg last year grid rulers and a rotary cutter! I'm sure there may of been a gift I would of loved but was way to expensive and not worth it as a child but I really can't remember.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

Again I'm with Kerker on this one. Spending time with family and friends and making wonderful memories.

Well that's it then, hope you enjoyed reading. How about doing the Christmas tag yourself? If you do let me know in comments and I'll check it out. Also pop along to read Kerker's Christmas Tag.

I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well.

As always thanks for stopping by.

  1. Lovely Christmas memories Kate. I remember taking the children to see Santa Claus The Movie and it was so magical. I've bough that sewing machine for my daughter-in-laws birthday on Saturday I do hope she's pleased with it as she's just started making children's dressing up outfits,
