Blog plans and a little bit of sewing.
Oh dear, I've let things slide a bit. I missed my Sunday blog plan post and now we are on Thursday! I've not felt inspired to write this week, my mood's been a little out of sorts. On Monday we sadly had to go to a friend of the families funeral which is not a nice way to start a week but as funerals go she had a lovely send off and what was wonderful the sun was shining all day.
It's nearly the end of this week but I still have some plans -
My 5 on a Friday post is going to be linked to my bloggiversary! This Friday it will be 4 years since I started blogging. Wow! I've never stuck with a hobby for so long, yay me!
One of my patient's gave me a poem book he self published and one of the poems is about his wife. So I thought it would be an apt poem to share on Valentines day.
I wasn't inspired to blog this week but I was inspired to sew. I often listen to an audiobook in bed on my mobile and frequently end up knocking my phone off it, so I decided to make a handy hanging pouch for my mobile phone which attaches to my bedside drawer. I really enjoyed making this as I got to use my new quarter inch foot and I've never sewn on velcro, which actually wasn't too bad to do. I will do a tutorial for this but that will be next week.
The 2nd thing I made was a zipper pouch, this was purely to practice sewing and I am pleased to say it is the neatest one that I have made so far and I'm really happy with how the zipper turned out. The corners are much better then previous attempts. I need to perfect my ladder stitch, but I didn't do all the bad. It's actually quite a pretty pouch. I don't really need any more zipper pouches but I suppose it's by practicing you perfect different techniques and your sewing,
All in all, the week wasn't a complete wash out and I've managed to achieve a bit, I'll be back on it next week! How's your weeks been?
Has anyone in the UK been watching the Great British Sewing Bee? I missed the last series but I'm enjoying this one. I have no idea how they all do it. I could not work under that pressure! I'd get so stressed. Obviously all the contestants are skilled at sewing and I love watching how they all get on. It's really impressive. I really love the fact you have got people of all ages and walks of life. There's not many compititions which you have some one of 20 competing with people in their 60's, I mean the winner of the first series was 81! How fab is that.
I best actually post this now since is gone 8pm. Thanks for stopping by as always
So reviewing my last blog plans from 3rd Feburary, the posts I had planned went out and I managed to resolve the problem with my blog signature position, which has been really frustrating me. I just want to adjust the size of my signature now but for some reason it wouldn't work when I tried so I thought best left alone for now.

I've not been social at all this week. But I will be joining in some linky parties at the weekend.
Now that I have resolved the positioning of my signature I want to sort out the size of it and make it a little smaller.

5 on a Friday: sewing tutorials.
Ok, well I'm not doing so well with my blog plans this week but there's still a couple of days to go so we shall see...
Today's 5 on a Friday, is 5 sewing tutorials I want to tackle.
1. I love this card/coin wallet on Craft Passion. One of these days I will make it but I need to improve my sewing skills before I tackle it. It's a great tutorial though, looks easyish to follow. I'm just not good at sewing that neatly so until I improve I'll keep this on my 'to make list'.

Sewing room storage: DIY Thread and scissor organiser.
I know Christmas feels like an age ago now, well it does for me but I want to share with you the fabulous Christmas pressie my clever Hubby made for me, I was so impressed and it was a complete surprise. On my Christmas list was threads for my sewing and Hubby had noticed I'd also been looking up on my computer, thread storage.
So... he made me this!

Some Christmas makes.
So Christmas has gone by in a whizz. Did you have a good one?
Mine was lovely but I have the dreaded lurgies, stuffed up nose, the sorest throat and cough, cough coughing. Which is sooooo annoying. But hey I really shouldn't complain. I have the next week and a half off and plenty of time to recuperate and spend time with family.
I just wanted to quickly share 2 cute things that I made for Christmas this year.

Boxy make-up bag and slim pencil case
I've been at it again, I didn't think I had enough of them so made myself a couple more zipper pouches! Actually I keep making the same thing to practice and try and perfect the skills that I am learning.

Up-cycled organiser.

I'm going to be back to sudying in February as I am starting my nurse prescribing module! It's a full on course and is going to require me to be super organised and on top of things. It's for 6 months, so can't be doing with being stressed out and feeling too much pressure for that time.

A day at the Fluff-a-torium
Yesterday in my weekend catch up I mentioned spending a lovely day at the Fluff-a-torium in Dorking. For my birthday present Hubby treated me to one of their sewing days, learning to make a bag. It was a fabulous day and I learnt lots. The sewing class was held above the shop so not only was I looking forward to learning to make the bag but to having a good nose around the shop too.

Gingerbread Houses
I have a new obsession, I'm getting crafty, or should I say trying too. I have yet too try out my sewing machine but hope to later today. Meanwhile, I recently discovered many wonderful printable crafts you can download from the internet. Originally it all started because I was going to design and printout my own gift tags but I didn't actually end up doing this (the same old problems poor planning and time management). How ever I did print and make this wonderful gingerbread house, well I actually made 3. One to go on the tree and then I made 2 more to give as little gifts. They are gorgeous and make lovely decorations or gift boxes.
